London - My Last Post

Thu, Sep 19th, 2019 4:04:19 am

Five nights in London - a fitting finale to our extended UK / Europe adventure. And to make it really memorable, the weather was fantastic!!!

We enjoyed a mix of our favourite activities like a bike tour through Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park, a walk along the Thames, and a stroll around some of the famous landmarks, so familiar from the Monopoly Board. Plus first time visits for us  that included a tour through the State rooms at Buckingham Palace, the Royal Gallery and The Mews; Victoria & Albert Museum; The Last Night of the Proms in Hyde Park; and a walk along some of the prettiest but less well known streets and mews in London.

After nearly 6 months of adventures, we are sitting in the departure lounge preparing for our long flight home.

I hope you have enjoyed sharing our travels and adventures and that the articles and images might inspire you to take on new challenges.

Au revoir.

Ipswich- full circle

Mon, Sep 16th, 2019 4:05:51 am

We have come full circle, back to where our adventures started in Ipswich.

Returned our ”wee tiny house” - a Benimar Mileo  201 to Marquis ready for export back to NZ.  Our home for nearly six months, this compact motorhome fulfilled our requirements perfectly.

Unlike our first visit we had plenty of time to look around Ipswich, the oldest town in England. Christchurch Mansion is definetly worth a visit, the mansion and grounds are beautiful. And for Ed Sheeran fans, there is an exhibition inside starting from his early childhood, tracking his musical career to the present day - they are enormously proud of their homegrown Suffolk superstar.

On our arrival in the UK in April, we stayed at The Salthouse and were so impressed we again treated ourselves to a dinner, bed and breakfast package. Great food, stunning views over the marina and excellent service.

Now off to London for our final few days. Last post coming soon.

Isle of Skye

Fri, Sep 6th, 2019 5:54:13 am

Situated in the north west of Scotland, the Isle of Skye, connected to the mainland via a bridge, is famous for its rugged landscape, picturesque fishing villages and medieval castles. It also has a reputation for rain and we certainly experienced that. On the up side, the land is green and lush, and the locals give you a warm  welcome.

We certainly enjoyed our time here. And at the end of our stay we drove to the southern end of the island and caught the car ferry, avoiding backtracking over the same roads, and enabling us to see more of the countryside.
